Rides Worth the Wait

Rides at Disney are a big deal. Besides being surrounded by the magic of Disney, you are also probably going for the rides. But the lines can be long and you can only have a certain amount of fast passes at a time, so which ones are truly worth the wait? Below, I have listed the rides I believe are worth the wait at both Disney World and Disneyland. The rides below are no all of the rides I wait in the traditional line for but rides that typically have more than an hour wait time.

Avatar Flight of Passage (Disney World)

This ride is one that is a can’t miss for me but the line can be lonnng if you don’t have a fast pass, like 3+ hours long. But this ride is unlike any other you have ridden. You are totally immersed in the world of pandora and it truly feels like you are flying. You can smell it, feel it, and be in a new world. This is one ride I would wait for.

I will give one note: if you are prone to motion sickness, this ride can cause that. I take medicine the morning I ride this ride and I’m okay but if you are very sensitive, be warned it can make you sick.

Toy Story Mania (Disney World and Disneyland)

This ride is just fun for everyone of all ages. It’s like an arcade game and ride in one. It’s a 3D game where you shoot at targets and try to get the highest score. Your favorite Toy Story characters are also there to explain the rules and encourage you! It truly is a fun ride and I don’t know of anyone that doesn’t enjoy this one! I always ride it even if I don’t have a fast pass.

Radiator Springs Racers (Disneyland)

If you have seen Cars, you will love this ride. It’s basically like riding through the movie plus you get to race! It’s so fun to see the world of Cars as you ride around but the best part is racing the car next to you. And you never know who will win. This ride is one I will wait in line for. Sometimes I also take advantage of the single rider line for this ride as well. It’s a great option if you would like a shorter line and aren’t concerned about riding with your party.

Space Mountain (Disney World and Disneyland)

This ride is a classic! Although there are slight differences at each park, the ride is equally fun at both. You are whipped around in the dark at high speeds. There aren’t any huge drops but the speed and the darkness make this a really fun rollercoaster. Once again, check height requirements for littlest before going on this one. And note that this is dark ride so if you have littles afraid of the dark it may not be for them.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Disney World and Disneyland)

If you love Star Wars then this is a must! And since it’s a newer ride, it can be hard to score fast passes so it’s for sure worth the wait! This is a new interactive ride that is very fun and more than just a ride. You actually get to take part in the action. You are either assigned Pilot, Gunner, or Engineer and each of you has a special task to do during the ride. It’s like a video game and a ride all in one. And the better you are, the further you go!

Note: This ride is also one that gives many people motion sickness so please take precautions

Peter Pan (Disney World and Disneyland)

Some of you are thinking, yes! This ride is a must! Others of you may think, what’s so special about Peter Pan? But the wait for this ride is almost always over an hour because there’s just something nostalgic about this ride. You float above the scenario instead of ride through it. The lights and the technology they used to make this all looks real is so cool and the scenes are beautiful. I will say, I don’t wait every time I’m at Disney for this ride BUT if you have never ridden it, you should definitely wait in line to ride it. It is a very special ride and one of a kind because its the only slow dark ride that you glide along the ceiling instead of the floor.

Slinky Dog Dash (Disney World)

Last, but not least, I will always wait in line to ride Slinky Dog Dash. I know it sounds silly but this ride is so fun! You get to be the size of a toy in Toy Story Land and then Slinky Dog Dash lets you ride through all your favorite childhood toys. It’s like a mini rollercoaster that someone built in their room that you get to ride. There is fast fun and also the joy of riding on Slinky Dog and seeing some Toy Story characters along your way! I ride this ride every time I’m at Disney World, even if I don’t have a fast pass!

These are just a few of the rides I would say are worth long waits. Please note that many of these rides do have height requirements so if you are taking littles, make sure to look those up before you go!

There are so many rides and attractions at Disney and I would love to hear which rides you think are worth the wait! Comment and let us know!
