Hi Companions,
We know that Disneyland announced opening on July 17 but unfortunately the State of California is issuing new guidelines that might push it back. Up to this point I (Natalie) will let you know what Disney has released and Susan will let you know what to expect based on what we know.
Just like Disney World, Disneyland is reopening in phases and with limited capacity what that looks like exactly won’t be revealed until after July 4th. The Downtown Disney district will still open July 9th based on their previous post. Here is what we know so far, and we expect even MORE.
- Social distancing will be required throughout the Disney property which means that capacity will be lower than normal.
- Face masks are required for everyone above the age of 2 when in the parks, downtown Disney, and public areas of the hotels.
- Temperature checks will be required for everyone entering Disney parks or Downtown Disney.
- There will be more hand sanitation areas as well as more cleaning throughout the park.
- New ticket sales have gone on hold until further notice.
- *Park Passes are currently required at Disney World Resort. Once there is an opening date for Disneyland, we will update you on the status of Park Pass for Disneyland.
Susan Here! Here’s what we can gather after Shanghai, Hong Kong, WDW opening. I feel like we have a better idea of what we can expect, but given the growing number of covid cases in California, there could be more. Please stay tune!
- Along with the capacity being lowered, adding on to the social distancing, there will probably be the LARGE six feet stickers distancing each group like Shanghai did.
- Since Disneyland has a transportation center BEFORE getting into the park where you basically have to go before entering the park, likely the temperature & face masks check will be there along with the metal detection and that might cause delays.
- Along with more sanitation stations being in the park, there will be less cast members on the street and more automated stations available to help you along the way. Don’t worry Companions, if you need information, you can always check back here for whatever you need. We will keep you as updated as we can.
- Expect that people will be wearing masks and probably be encouraged to wear them. This is NOT a debate, but this is what is required to go on to and stay on the property.
- Please be patient in that the park pass (see not in Natalie’s section) will determine which park you go to on which days. This is unlike the free for all it used to be. Helpful tip. If you need to know how to use or navigate through the park pass, Natalie wrote an awesome article here.
- If you are looking for new sales, my advice is to use a travel agent. Not only because Natalie is one (email her here) but because they can give you up to date information as soon as it comes out and re-work your reservation. As your companions, you will not be alone!
I know more updates will come along companions! Please bookmark this page so you can see the updates below. Every time Disney has an update, so will this blog post.
