Disneybounding

Hello Companions,

As Disney parks are opening (and closing) I thought I would give you one of my MOST favorite parts about going to Disney. DISNEYBOUNDING! :)

What is Disneybounding you ask? My definition is when cosplay meets real clothes, but if I had to break it down some more, it is an outfit that is inspired by the character of choice using REAL clothes and not costumes at all. Disneybounding as it is the way to express your love for the character of choice without violating the Disney dress code rule for guests over the age of 14,  (See the rule here straight from the Disney website.) and while having a little fun!

Now you may be asking, being the Disney lover you are...don’t you have a TON of Disney shirts at this point to wear to Disney parks? Yes, but now you may disagree with me, but I feel like Disneybounding is different from just wearing an outfit or dress that has the character on it. I mean I get it, there now is a WORLD full of Hot Topic, Box Lunch, and even the Disney merchandise website to give you those, but Disneybounding is carefully curated and matched together. I find that Disneybounding challenges me as a Disney lover to find things or buy things in my wardrobe that is specific to my body shape and match them with a character that I would like to be that day.

My favorite characters that I have dressed as are Belle & Minnie. For Belle, I may have been a big more spot on and bordering cosplay while for Minnie, I was wearing something a bit more inspired and you wouldn’t necessarily think of it as Disneybounding unless you were at a Disney Park.

  • For Belle, I may have cheated a little and got a dress from Hot Topic that was a Disney inspired Belle Dress, but for accessories, I wore black flats, black leggings (it was November and only at night) and I wore my hair twisted up.

  • For Minnie, I wore a red and white polka dot romper, with black legging and a black tank top. I also added a jean jacket because it got COLD at night at Disneyland. As accessories, I wore my sequined Minnie ears and pearl necklace.

Being honest though, I don’t ALWAYS Disneybound. A lot of the time, I just want to wear my Disney attire and leggings and feel comfy and warm while other times, I want to go all out, and show my spirit. You better believe when I get to a park this year, the FIRST thing I am wearing is my spirit jersey, leggings and comfy shoes. Your girl has to get into Rise of the Resistance after all! :)

Thank you for reading! This week I have a question for you, what is your favorite character and what characters would you be interested in Disneybounding as? Comment below! If you are interested, I have a Pinterest board full of Disneybounding ideas here. Click the link and it should take you there.
